How to Look Good in the Monsoon

Rainy days and windy breezes… sounds like something out of a Yash Raj film. Well, in reality, the monsoons mean soppy, dirty clothes and ruined shoes. But this season doesn’t have to be.Here are some fashion must-dos to keep you at your trendiest even when it’s pouring outside.
What to wear?

Always keep your hemlines shorter. Think cigarette pants, capris, knee-length skirts and work shorts. Leave your extra-long trousers at home, for now. Choose fabrics carefully. Slightly heavier-weight fabrics that won’t go transparent are your best bet. Experiment with new fabrics; especially nylon-based, good quality pieces that are water resistant. It’s also worth investing in a water-resistant spray that provides a protective coating for clothes.

The right accessories
Leather, suede or fabric shoes and accessories are strictly off-limits, this season. Opt for shoes made of PU - easy to keep dry and clean. Carry a pair of heels in your handbag, wrapped in plastic, so you can slip them on right before entering a party.

Tame your hair

Hair always takes a beating with frizz and dampness. Tame your tresses by using a light serum. Wash your hair frequently as any dirt in the hair will pull more grime your way. Similarly, keep hair products light.

Day & night looks
Heavy traffic and minimal visibility makes it hard to stop home for a change out of work clothes, before you head out. How can you take your wardrobe from night to day? Here are some easy ideas. Play around, find your signature style and get going.

1. For work: A knee-length dress with a well-cut blazer will keep you dry and warm For play: Remove your blazer, add a statement necklace and change into killer heels.

2. For work: Slim pants with an over-sized cardigan dries easily and looks office-chic For play: Switch up the pants to a sequined skirt and add a waist belt to cinch in your cardigan.
