10 Tips to Reduce Pimples



Pimples are the small monsters that have been creating havoc in the lives of many people since long. They are skin lesions or inflammations of the skin that are commonly caused by clogged or infected pores. The clogging is due to a type of oil called sebum that lubricates skin and hair. Pimples also develop when the blackheads or whiteheads get infected. Hormonal overdrives are also a prime cause of pimples. These monsters can’t be eradicated completely, but their breakouts can be prevented. Here are some important tips to help you avoid and clear them up as fast as possible.

1. Washing the face 2-3 times a day is beneficial. Orange peel powder, made by powdering dry orange peels can be used for washing the face in place of soap. It is refreshing and smells good too.
2. Rubbing fresh garlic on and around pimples can make them disappear without leaving marks behind. This has great effects with regular applications.
3. Oil massages increase the blood flow in veins and exhaust dirt and sweat from the body. These are found to be beneficial in the treatment of pimples.
4. Application of a paste made by mixing 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder on the pimples can be extremely beneficial. The paste should be applied before sleeping and washed with warm water the next morning. The treatment, when repeated for two weeks, will make the pimples disappear forever.
5. Applying fresh mint juice over the face every night can be very effective in the treatment of pimples.
6. Lime juice and rose water mixed in equal proportions can be applied over the infected area and washed off after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water. This can have astonishing effects.
7. Although it sounds a little absurd, toothpaste is a proven method to treat pimples from appearing. You can apply it over the affected area overnight and get up with a considerably smaller and more dried up pimple.
8. Wearing oil-free makeup reduces the tendency to cause pore buildup and thereby reduces the emergence of pimples.
9. Baby powder can be used to dry out pimples and even get rid of them.
10. One of the most common advices in connection with the reduction of pimples is overcoming the tendency to touch, squeeze, pinch or prick the pimples. Keeping the hands off pimples can be useful in preventing further infection and scarring.

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Air Force tells its Airmen to drink responsibly for their safety, much like when a parent tells a child not to touch the hot stove. When a child does it anyway, the effect is a burn that causes visible damage; but the damage caused by alcohol can be largely unseen.

When alcohol affects an Airman, it doesn't stop at bad breath or an amusing stumble, but is a progressive attack on the brain itself, targeting decision making functions and motor coordination, then emotions and memory, and if continued, finally the body's life support.

Alcohol assaults forebrain

Alcohol starts its effects on the human body by attacking motor coordination, making tasks like driving nearly or truly physically impossible, which is why Airman need to make plans before drinking.

There is no excuse for alcohol related incidents in the Air Force, especially ones that involve vehicles, so Airmen need a plan that involves a designated driver, said Capt. Jared Detter, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment element chief.

"It's important to plan early because alcohol affects your reliability and judgment," the captain said. "No job in the Air Force wouldn't be compromised by bad reliability and judgment."

Planning before drinking is important, because alcohol makes it difficult to come to the right decision on, say, how to get home from a party, Captain Detter said.

Alcohol knocks out midbrain

After the forebrain, alcohol goes deeper to the midbrain, when a person's ability to make sound decisions is lost, and emotions take control.

"When you lose the ability to realize the consequences of actions, a person's emotions become more prominent in decision making," Captain Detter said. "This is why people are more susceptible to fighting while intoxicated."

At the same time alcohol affects emotions, it attacks a person's memory, which can lead to blackouts.

"A blackout doesn't mean that a person will pass out," Captain Detter said. "It means that the person will not remember the actions that took place during a certain amount of time."

Having a sober wingman can help a person stay safe while drinking.

Alcohol batters brainstem

Once a drinker reaches the blackout stage, the effect of alcohol can become deadly as it affects health conditions like heart rate, body temperature, appetite and consciousness.

"When a person passes out, it's not a laughing matter," Captain Detter said. "The body is being seriously affected by the alcohol consumption which can be fatal."

Nine Airmen died from alcohol related incidents in the summer of 2003 according to the Air Force Safety Institute.  Even though the figures have decreased since then, the Air Force continues to push even harder to ensure its mission is not affected by alcohol.

How the colour of your plates may help you lose weight!




colour of plate and weight lossPlates in colours contrasting with the food you eat may help you eat less and thus lose more weight, research says. The logic being that people tend to take more generous helpings when the food they eat is of the same hue as the crockery on which it is placed.
When foods “blend in” with their background, people serve themselves 20 percent more than if they were serving the same meal on a plate of contrasting colour.
In the study, people were given either a red or a white dinner plate and led to one of two buffet tables offering pasta; one in tomato sauce, the other in cream sauce, the Telegraph reports.
Those given crockery which “matched” their food – red for tomato sauce, or white for cream sauce – gave themselves helpings between 17 and 22 percent larger than those with plates of contrasting colour. 
Further, research has established that the average person eats around 92 percent of a portion they serve themselves.
The latest study by researchers at Cornell University, US, repeated several times on groups of 60 participants, found the actual colour of the food and plates made no difference; what mattered was the contrast between the two. 
Study authors said the colour contrast appears to act as a “stop sign” reminding people to think about how much food they were serving.
Brian Wansink, professor who runs Cornell University’s Food and Brand Lab, said: “People will generally serve themselves far more on a large dinner plate than they would on a smaller one, because the eye is tricked. It seems that colour contrast is one way to block this illusion.”
The research author said those trying to lose weight could help themselves by buying brightly coloured or dark plates, to provide contrast with common white foodstuffs such as pasta, rice and potatoes.
Alternatively, green plates could be used as a way to trick children into eating more vegetables, he said.

The Red Plate Diet.





There’s no chance that the secret to weight loss could be as simple as changing the color of your plate. Or could it? A new study shows that those who ate on red plates or drank from red cups actually ate and drank less than they did when using other colors.

In one experiment, researchers compared how much 41 male students consumed from cups that had either blue or red stickers on them. The results revealed that the men consumed more from the blue stickered cup, while the flavor of the sweetened beverage didn’t matter. 

In another study, 109 men and women were asked to complete a survey with three different colored plates of pretzels in front of them—a white one, a blue one, and a red one. In the end, the most pretzels were taken from the blue plate, the second most from the white plate, and the least from the red plate.

Apparently, red serve ware acts as a stop sign and signals your brain when it’s time to stop. In several studies, red serve ware seemed to make a significant impact on mindless eating and drinking. We’d be interested to know if the actual color of your food makes a difference too!

Now the health benefits of this forgotten, maligned member of the fish family puts it on the front page, especially for Americans who have high cholesterol.

Types

Sardines come from both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Most of the sardines caught in the U.S. are Sardinops sagax, Pacific sardines. The majority of Atlantic sardines, Sardina pilchardus, live along the coast of Europe and the Mediterranean and according to JRank Science, Sardinella, the anchovy, found off the U.S. Atlantic coast is the sardine's close cousin.

Facts

During the 1950s, overfishing almost depleted the population of Pacific sardines, but the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that better management has helped the Pacific sardine thrive. Americans eat only about 25 percent of the annual sardine catch. The rest become food for fish farms throughout the world.

Nutrition

Whole Health MD recommends that you eat sardines because it has heart-healthy essential fatty acids and it is a rich source of calcium, vitamin B12, potassium and selenium, all in a tiny, portable package. A 3 oz. can of sardines packed in oil has 1.3 g of saturated fat, but it also has 3.3 g of monounsaturated fat, 4.4 g of polyunsaturated fat and 121 g of cholesterol.

Benefits

The University of Miami states that eating fatty fish raises your high-density lipoprotein, or HDL cholesterol, while decreasing your low-density lipoprotein, or LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. To increase your intake of omega-3 fatty acids, they suggest that you aim for two or more meals that contain these healthy fish per week Medline Plus reports that fatty fish like sardines provide approximately 1 g of omega-3 acids per 3.5 oz. serving. The omega-3 fatty acids in sardines are eicosapentaenoic, or EPA and docosahexaenoic, or DHA. Your body cannot manufacture these acids, so it is critical that you get them from food sources.

Although sardines contain cholesterol, they also have a high proportion of unsaturated fats. The Linus Pauling Institute explains that replacing saturated fats in your diet with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats results in lower serum cholesterol.

Eating Sardines

Medline Plus cautions that frying fatty fish cancels the health benefits and may increase your risk of cardiovascular disease. Broiling and baking are two of the best methods for preparing sardines. Whole Health MD suggests grilling, sautéing or eating canned sardines in sauces or salads.

Eating three eggs a week could significantly increase a man’s chances of dying from prostate cancer, researchers have warned.
Experts in the U.S. claimed that men who consume more than two and a half on a weekly basis were up to 81 per cent more likely to be killed by the disease. 
They suggested the damage may  be done by the large amounts of  cholesterol or choline – a nutrient that help cells to function properly – that are found in eggs.

The average Briton consumes an estimated 182 eggs a year – roughly three and a half per week.





Until recently, the British Heart Foundation recommended eating no more than three a week because of fears that they raised the risk of heart attacks  and strokes.

CANCER DRUG TO PROLONG LIFE 'TOO EXPENSIVE'

 A drug that could extend the lives of men with prostate cancer has been rejected by the NHS rationing body for being too expensive. 
Cabazitaxel can delay tumour growth by twice as long as standard treatments, and a study found it prolongs survival by an average of ten weeks. 
However, NICE said that it should not be funded on the NHS, with chief executive Sir Andrew Dillon explaining that the drug – which costs £89,000 per patient – ‘would not be a cost-effective use of limited resources’.
The team examined the eating habits of 27,000 men over a 14-year period. 
They found no significant links between the amount of meat eaten and tumours – but a higher number of cancer deaths were evident among those who admitted consuming lots of eggs.
In a report on their findings, the researchers revealed: ‘Men who consumed 2.5 eggs or more a week had an  81 per cent increased risk of lethal prostate cancer compared to men who consumed less than half an egg a week
'Although additional studies are needed, caution in egg intake may be warranted for adult men.’
However, Sarah Williams, health information officer at the charity Cancer Research UK, said: ‘There is a small amount of previous research on the link between eating eggs and the risk of developing and dying from prostate cancer, but the results have been contradictory and it’s still not clear whether there is a real effect.’

For normal hair you would need a mild shampoo for daily use during the monsoon months. A gentle caring shampoo with natural extracts like thyme and juniper would be ideal for daily use and give the right shine and bounce to your tresses.

Magnolia blossoms & watercress extracts are good for those with dry hair, who would need a moisturizing quotient in their shampoos, to prevent the hair from becoming frizzy during monsoons.

Oily hair tends to become limp during monsoons & requires shampoos that will give volume to the hair. Natural extracts like rosemary and sage can give that extra bounce and vitality to limp hair.

Frizzy hair is a common problem in monsoons, as excess humidity in the environment tends to make the hair dry and coarse. Therefore conditioning is very important in monsoon. Boots? Why Not?

Choose a shoe with materials that do not absorb water so that shoes remain durable despite repeatedly exposed to rain. It also will protect your feet from moisture due to standing water wherever you go. Want to protect you from mud skinny jeans? Why not wear boots? Select type of boots are okay and fit to your body shape, then you will be more fashionable and is not afraid to get splattered with mud again.

Beautiful Umbrella

You will often use an umbrella. This rain shield objects not only serve as a protector, you can look stylish by choosing a unique umbrella shape. Transparent umbrella with a small accent flowers or choose an umbrella that will form the heart when you open it. Certainly many eyes will be attracted by your umbrella choice.

Sweater Throw Greatness
Wearing thick, oversized sweaters with gray, unless you had a fever and the flu it’s a big no no … Choose the heated body with a model fitting cardigans with your body, not too small, not too big. If the cardigan is not enough to dispel the cold that attacks your body, choose a long coat. Believe me, that choice can instantly make you look fashionable.
